How do we protect our voice when the notes keep coming?

You finally have work. Good — you asked for this. But now every note feels like a hand on your throat, and you're bruised from fighting for lines that may not even matter. Look closely at what you're defending. Some of it is the work itself — the part that makes it yours, the part the client is paying for without knowing it. Some of it is only your pride, wearing the costume of principle. These are two different fights. Confuse them and you lose both. You are not fighting this alone. A pod that meets each note as five separate battles will lose to a client who fights as one voice. Decide together, before the meeting, what you will not give up. Decide it out loud, and write it down.

Not every note is an attack. Most are requests from someone paying you, and you can give ground on them without losing anything real. Before the work starts, decide together which parts of the voice you will never trade. Defend only those, without apology. Trade the rest freely — that is judgment, not surrender.
