Several of us touched this result — how do we credit it fairly?
You want to point at the result and say: this was me, this much. But five people touched the work before it landed, and the data only sees some of them. So every number you produce is partly a guess wearing a decimal point. Here is what you must accept: this gap will not close. More dashboards will not fix it. No tool will hand you the clean split you are waiting for. The data was never built to settle your argument. So change what you are solving for. You cannot produce certainty. You can produce an honest, examined claim about your part — and a group that has agreed on how to test such claims. That is within your power. Chase it instead.
You will not find the one true number. The work passed through many hands, and the data cannot see all of them. Stop hunting for perfect proof. Choose instead what you can defend: a plain account of your part, stated with honest confidence, and checked by the people who worked beside you.
What changes unlock by starting
- You stop fighting over a number that was never going to be exact.
- Your pod can state its claims out loud without flinching or overselling.
- Credit disputes get shorter, calmer, and less personal.
- You spend less time defending attribution and more time improving the work itself.
