Should I override the AI's recommendation for this customer?
You use the tool because it's usually right. But today it isn't — you can see it. The customer in front of you doesn't fit the pattern. So you freeze. Follow the system and fail the person, or trust yourself and risk being wrong. This is not a technology problem. You already know how to read a customer — you did it before the tool existed. What you don't trust is your own eyes when a machine disagrees with them. That is the real hesitation. Not the tool. Your nerve. Here is what is actually in your power: the choice, right now, in front of this one customer. Not the algorithm's design. Not company policy. Not what happens if you're wrong. Just this — do you act on what you see, or hide behind what you were handed?
The tool is a starting point, not a verdict. If you can see, plainly, that its answer fails this customer, override it — and stand behind that choice. Do not hide behind the tool when it's right, and do not hide from your own judgment when it's wrong. Either way, the decision is yours.
What changes unlock by starting
- You stop treating the tool's output as something to obey or defy in silence.
- You build a visible record of your own judgment, not just your compliance.
- You override less often from fear, and more often for reasons you can state plainly.
- The customer in front of you gets a decision fitted to them, not to the average case.
