Knowledge + Guidance

Where does my judgment end and the AI's drawing begin?

You say you cannot tell where your judgment ends and the machine's output begins. Look closer. The judgment is still there. You simply stopped announcing it, even to yourself. This is not a crisis of skill. It is a habit you never had to build before. When a person sketched slowly, you saw every choice happen in front of you. Now the draft arrives finished, and you skip straight to reacting. The deciding still happens — you just do it silently, in half a second, and call that silence confusion. With a team this gets worse, not better. If you cannot name your own choices, you certainly cannot show your partners theirs. Soon no one can say who decided what, and credit, blame, and trust all go soft at the edges. Fix this together, out loud, or the blur becomes permanent.

The core problem is an unbuilt habit of noticing one's own choices, so coaching toward practice matters more than new information.

What’s really going on

Your judgment did not disappear. You just stopped marking the moment you used it. Every time a draft appears, someone chooses to accept it, change it, or throw it out. That choice is the judgment. Name it out loud, every time, with your team — and the line comes back.

A moveBefore you accept any generated draft, say out loud why you are keeping it.
A moveStart a shared log: for each decision, write who made it and whether a person or the tool proposed it first.
A moveIn every team review, ask one question: what did we change, and why did we change it.
A movePick one shipped piece each week. Trace every choice in it back to a named person.
A moveAgree on a team rule: nothing leaves the pod without one human decision attached to it in writing.

  • You can state, in one sentence, your own role in any shared piece of work.
  • Your team stops arguing about who 'really' decided something.
  • You trust your own eye again, because you can point to your marks on the work.
  • You keep the speed of the tool without losing who is accountable for the result.
