Who carries it when I can't afford to flinch?

You can function through almost anything. That's why they chose you. Hands steady, voice calm, decisions made while others are still deciding. But functioning is not the same as untouched. Something gets paid for every time you don't flinch. The danger isn't the hard call. It's pushing the cost down alone, while the person next to you does the same. Two people carrying separate silent weights is not a team. It's two people about to fail alone, together. This is not weakness. It is maintenance, and maintenance is not a solo act. Say what it costs you to someone who can hear it. If the weight sits too heavy, too long, get support built for this — a counselor, a chaplain, someone trained for it. That is not failure. That is sense.

The reader already knows the job; what they need is the habit of naming the cost, which is a coaching problem, not an information gap.

What’s really going on

You were trained to carry weight others cannot. That training did not make you weightless. Name the cost out loud, to one person who carries it too. Do this today, not when it breaks you. Choose one teammate. Tell them what today took from you.

A moveTell one teammate, in one sentence, what today took from you — before you go home.
A moveBuild a standing question into your debrief: 'What are you carrying right now?' Ask it every time, every person.
A moveWhen someone says 'I'm fine,' ask once more. Don't accept the first answer.
A movePick one person outside your chain of command. Report your real state to them every week.
A moveNotice the weight you're absorbing that isn't yours. Name it out loud instead of carrying it silently.
