Why am I always the one who has to say this is wrong?

You say no when the room wants yes. You flag the thing everyone else hopes no one notices. You do this often enough that people have started calling it 'your thing' — not theirs, yours. That is the trap. When ethics becomes one person's job, it becomes optional for everyone else. Your team learns to let you carry it. Then they resent the weight you carry. Then they stop helping you carry it at all. You are not just tired. You are doing work that was never meant to be done alone. This page will not tell you to soften your line. It will show you how to make the line belong to the whole room. You will stop being the exception. You will start being the standard.

This problem is less about understanding ethics and more about changing how a team shares the weight of defending it.

What’s really going on

You did not choose to be the conscience of the room. But you choose, every time, to keep speaking when others stay quiet. The fix is not a softer standard — it is refusing to carry it alone. Build shared ownership with your team, so the line holds even when you are not there.

A moveName the pattern out loud to your team: say 'I notice I'm always the one who raises this. I want that to change.'
A movePick one upcoming decision and ask someone else to voice the ethical concern first, before you do.
A moveWrite the standard you keep defending in one plain sentence. Put it where the whole team can see it.
A moveAsk one teammate this week, 'What would make you willing to say this too?' Then listen without defending yourself.
A moveStop rescuing the group from the hard conversation. Let the silence sit until someone else chooses to speak.
