Knowledge + Guidance

Why am I running the department but still capped below the pharmacist?

You run the schedule. You run the workflow. You're the one people find when something breaks. And still, your title and your pay stop at a line someone else crossed with an exam, not with the work you do every day. This is not a problem you solve by working harder. You already work hard — that's how you ended up carrying the department. The ceiling isn't about your effort. It's about how the structure hands out authority: by license, not by labor. So don't ask whether you deserve more. You already do work that deserves more. Ask a harder question: what can you actually do about it, starting today, and what will you do if the structure never moves?

This problem is less about new information and more about facing a situation clearly and choosing a next move, so guidance leads.

What’s really going on

You're not capped for lack of skill. You're capped because the structure ties authority to a license, not to the work itself. You cannot argue your way past that wall today. But you can choose what you do inside it — and whether you keep quietly feeding a ceiling you never agreed to.

🔒 What you’ll build togetherUnlock by starting
A moveWrite down every decision you make that requires judgment, not just tasks you execute. This is your evidence, not your complaint.
A moveAsk your manager directly: what would have to change for my role to carry more authority or pay? Get the answer, and get it in writing if you can.
A moveSet yourself a real deadline — three or six months — to see if anything moves. Decide now what you'll do if nothing does.
A moveStop taking on more unpaid responsibility while the ceiling stands unexamined. Let the gap between your work and your title be visible to others, not just to you.
A moveLook outside the building. If the ceiling is structural and not personal, other structures exist. Find out, plainly, what they actually offer.

What changes unlock by starting

  • A clear, written account of what you actually do, separate from your job title
  • A real answer about whether your employer can or will change the structure, instead of a guess
  • Less invisible labor quietly protecting a ceiling you never agreed to
  • A deadline and a decision point, instead of waiting indefinitely
One object, two jobs: a public answer to a real problem, and — the moment you start the chat — Aurelius’s live plan for your version of it.
