Knowledge + Guidance

Why am I the shock absorber between clients and my team?

You keep the client calm. You keep the account growing. Meanwhile your own team drops the ball, and somehow that becomes your problem too. You carry both loads because no one ever told you where your job stops. This looks like commitment. It is not. It is a missing edge. When you absorb every failure that isn't yours, you teach your team it doesn't need to fix itself. You teach your client that chaos is normal, because you always smooth it over before they see it. You cannot control whether your company is disorganized. You can control what you personally carry, what you say yes to, and what you hand back. That choice is yours today. Not someday, once things calm down. They will not calm down on their own.

The reframe itself is short and clear; the real work is naming a boundary out loud with your team and practicing holding it, so guidance leads.

What’s really going on

You are not failing. You have made yourself the place where client demands and internal chaos collide, and you never drew a line where your job ends. That is not dedication — it is a boundary you never set. Choose, today, where your responsibility stops. Then say it out loud.

A moveWrite down three things you did last month that were never actually your job. Stop doing the next one this week.
A moveNext time internal chaos hits, tell your team plainly: 'this is yours to fix, not mine to hide.'
A moveAgree on one sentence with your pod that you will all say to clients when an internal failure happens.
A moveStop apologizing for your company's mistakes as if they were your own. Name them: 'that was an internal delay.'
A moveAsk your pod directly: which parts of this work are we absorbing that belong to someone else?
