Why can I navigate anything except my way home?

You say the work calls you away. It does not call. You answer, because the sea asks only for skill, and home asks for something you are less sure you have. Your crew trusts your hand on the wheel. They do not ask why you took this voyage instead of the one home. At home, someone is still waiting to give you a role — and you have not stayed long enough to learn what it is. This is not a scheduling problem. Clear a month and you would still find a reason to leave on day three. Name what you are avoiding, say it to the people who share this struggle with you, and choose one voyage to decline before you check the charts again.

The skill of navigation is not in question, only the choosing, so the work here is mostly action, not information.

What’s really going on

You are not lost. You know every current and star. The sea is not the problem — it is where you hide from the harder question: what you owe the people waiting on shore. Stop charting for a moment. Choose one voyage to refuse this month. That is the whole answer.

A moveName the next voyage in front of you, and decide to decline it before you open the charts.
A moveTell your crew or your family the real reason you took the last trip, not the excuse you gave them.
A moveSet one full day this month with no vessel, no port, no task to hide behind.
A moveAsk the people at home what role they would give you if you stayed, instead of assuming you know.
A moveTeach someone at home one thing you know at sea, so the sea is not the only place you are needed.

  • You will know within a week whether you are avoiding home or simply suited to the sea.
  • Your crew and your family will stop guessing at your reasons, because you will have stated them plainly.
  • You will have declined at least one voyage you would otherwise have taken without question.
  • You will know what role, if any, home actually offers you.
