Why can't I get other teams to back our deal?

You've built the case. You've presented it. You've explained it again, slower, with better slides. The other teams still haven't moved. You call this a communication problem. It isn't. Look honestly at what you're doing. You are trying to make other teams feel what you feel about this deal. That is not within your power. What is within your power is finding what they already care about, and showing them exactly where it meets your path. No one aligns behind someone else's win. They align behind their own. So stop asking why they won't listen. Ask what they stand to gain or lose, in their terms, not yours. That is the actual work in front of you and your team now — not more persuasion, but real listening, team by team.

The block here is behavioral — pushing instead of listening — so the work is mostly in what the team does next, not what they learn.

What’s really going on

You keep pushing harder — more slides, more explaining, more polish on the pitch. That isn't the problem. Other teams don't move because your case is strong. They move when they see what's in it for them. Stop selling your deal. Find their stake in it. Name it plainly, then ask them to act.

A moveBefore the next meeting, sit down with one skeptical team's leader. Ask them questions. Don't present.
A moveRewrite your pitch in their language, built around their goals, not your deadline.
A moveGive each team a real role in shaping the decision, not just a briefing on it.
A moveFind the person in each team with influence but no voice in the room yet. Talk to them first.

What changes unlock by starting

  • You stop building bigger decks and start having real conversations instead.
  • Other teams start raising concerns and ideas before you have to ask.
  • You know exactly what's blocking each team's agreement, instead of guessing.
  • The deal moves because people want it to, not because you pushed it through.
