Why won't other teams get behind my deal?

You've sharpened the pitch, tightened the numbers, rehearsed the answers. Still, the other teams nod and do nothing. That is not a presentation problem. No amount of polish fixes it. Each team you need is guarding something — their budget, their time, their standing with their own boss. They are not weighing your deal on its merits. They are asking, quietly, what this costs them. You have not answered that question, because you have been too busy answering yours. You cannot make another team want what you want. That was never within your power. What is within your power is this: find what they already care about, and show them where it lives inside your deal. Do that, or stop expecting a different result from the same pitch.

The person already grasps the mechanics of their deal; what they lack is the discipline to act differently, so the page leans toward coaching moves over explanation.

What’s really going on

You keep making your case stronger, and still they don't move. That's because they were never arguing with your case. They're protecting their own ground. Stop explaining your deal better. Find what each team stands to lose or gain, and speak to that. Their agreement is not yours to control — only the offer you make them is.

A moveList every team you need aligned. Next to each, write what they stand to lose or gain — not what you want them to think.
A moveBefore your next meeting, ask one person on that team a direct question: what worries you about this?
A moveStop opening with your plan. Open by naming their risk first, in your own words, before they say it.
A moveRewrite your pitch so the first sentence is about their interest, not your outcome.
A moveName the one objection you've been avoiding. Raise it yourself before someone else does.

What changes unlock by starting

  • You stop spending meetings on people who were never going to decide anything.
  • You can state, in plain terms, what each team actually needs to say yes.
  • Teams start offering their own reasons to support you, instead of resisting yours.
  • You spend less effort convincing and more effort aligning.
One object, two jobs: a public answer to a real problem, and — the moment you start the chat — Aurelius’s live plan for your version of it.
