Why do big, complicated deals stall while small ones close fast?

You close the deals with one buyer easily enough. One person decides, one person signs. The complex deals are different — many people can say no, and only one has to say yes to your champion's face. The deal stalls because you and your team keep treating it as a single relationship. You wait for your champion to call back. You send another follow-up. You hope momentum returns on its own. It will not — because the real objection is sitting in someone else's office, and no one has asked them yet. You are not doing this alone. Your pod can split the work. One of you can own the finance stakeholder, another the operations lead, another the end user. Stop guarding the whole deal like it is yours alone. Divide it, and go find the objections that are hiding.

The cause is simple to name, but unsticking it takes real, ongoing action from you and your team, so guidance leads.

What’s really going on

A deal with many stakeholders is not one sale — it is several, running at once. It stalls because you are still treating it as one conversation. Stop pushing for a single yes. Map every person who can say no, name their separate objection, and answer each one on its own terms.

A moveList every stakeholder who can block or approve the deal, not just your champion.
A moveMeet or call each blocker alone. Ask them directly what would make them say no.
A moveAssign one team member to own each stakeholder, instead of one person owning the whole deal.
A moveSet a decision date with the full buying group, not just a follow-up date with your champion.
A moveWhen that date passes, move the deal forward or close it out. Do not let it sit unanswered.

What changes unlock by starting

  • You know exactly who can block the deal, not just who wants it.
  • Your team stops guessing why a deal went quiet.
  • You surface real objections instead of polite silence.
  • Deals reach a clear yes or no faster, instead of sitting in limbo.
One object, two jobs: a public answer to a real problem, and — the moment you start the chat — Aurelius’s live plan for your version of it.
