Why do thermodynamics and fluid dynamics feel like too much?

You did not choose to feel behind. But you are choosing, right now, to measure yourself against the entire subject instead of the next equation in front of you. That choice is what makes the weight unbearable. No mind holds thermodynamics and fluid dynamics whole. Not the professor's. Not the student ahead of you who looks calm. Everyone who has learned this learned it one problem at a time, badly at first, in the company of others who were also confused. You are not doing this alone unless you choose to. You have a pod. Use it as it is meant to be used — to divide what none of you could carry singly, and to catch each other's gaps before an exam does.

The core failure here is emotional and behavioral — treating a vast subject as one object instead of a sequence of small tasks — so coaching carries more weight than technical instruction.

What’s really going on

Overwhelm is not proof you lack the mind for this. It is proof you are trying to hold the whole subject at once, alone, in your head. You cannot. No one can. Choose the next problem, not the whole field. Work it with your pod. Then choose the next one.

A movePick one equation or one concept right now. Not the chapter. That one thing.
A moveDivide the material across your pod so each person owns one section and teaches it to the rest.
A moveSet a 25-minute timer and solve one problem. When it ends, stop and rest, even unfinished.
A moveWhen you are stuck, write the exact sentence of what confuses you. Bring only that sentence to the group.
A moveEnd every study session by naming, out loud, one thing you understand now that you did not before.

What changes unlock by starting

  • You stop judging yourself against the whole subject and start judging against the next problem.
  • Your pod carries pieces of the material you could not hold alone.
  • You find your gaps faster by teaching concepts aloud than by silent rereading.
  • You build steady confidence from finished small tasks, not from feeling ready in advance.
One object, two jobs: a public answer to a real problem, and — the moment you start the chat — Aurelius’s live plan for your version of it.
