Knowledge + Guidance

Why does no one develop me the way I develop everyone else?

You can take a struggling teacher and make them strong. You can see what they need before they see it themselves. Everyone in your building knows this about you, and everyone uses it. But look at your own file. Who has done for you what you do for them? No one scheduled your growth. No one noticed you needed it. You traded your growth for your usefulness, one favor at a time, and called it teamwork. This did not happen to you. You let it happen, by never asking for anything in return. That is the part worth sitting with. Not because you should feel guilty. Because it means the fix is still in your hands.

This is less a knowledge gap than a pattern you need help breaking, so coaching carries most of the weight.

What’s really going on

No one is developing you because you never asked. You made yourself useful instead of visible as someone who also needs growth. That was your choice, not a conspiracy against you. The fix is not to work harder. It is to name what you need, out loud, to someone who can give it.

A moveWrite down the name of one person who could develop you — not admire you, develop you. If no name comes, that is your real problem.
A moveAsk that person directly for what you give others: regular time, honest feedback, a real plan for your growth. Use plain words. Do not hint.
A moveStop volunteering to fix the next struggling teacher until you have asked for something for yourself first.
A moveSet one boundary this week: name a specific task you will refuse, so your time is protected.
A moveTrack for one month who draws on you and who adds to you. Look hard at the gap.

What changes unlock by starting

  • You name the exact trade you have been making, instead of carrying a vague resentment.
  • You make one direct, specific ask for your own development, not a complaint.
  • You protect at least one hour a week that used to go to someone else's growth.
  • You stop mistaking being needed for being developed.
One object, two jobs: a public answer to a real problem, and — the moment you start the chat — Aurelius’s live plan for your version of it.
