Why does running strong for hours cost me everything else?

You can work for hours and never slip. You call this strength. But look at the cost. Your shoulders ache. Your sleep shrinks. Your family waits at the door while you finish one more thing. This is not mastery. This is a debt you have not yet been asked to repay. You do not do this alone. Your pod watches how you work. They learn that your pace is the standard. Soon they skip meals too. They stay late and call it commitment. One person's endurance becomes the whole team's quiet exhaustion. The fix is not more willpower — willpower got you here. The fix is a limit, set together, out loud, and held to by all of you — before your body sets it for you, badly. If your body keeps sending signals you cannot explain, that is work for someone trained to read them, not a test of your will.

The problem is mostly behavioral and relational, so the page leans toward coaching action with just enough framing to break the false pride in endurance.

What’s really going on

The endurance you're proud of is not strength — it is debt. You can override your body's signals for a while, but the bill always comes due. Choose now, with your pod, to set the limit before your body sets it for you. Ignoring cost is not discipline. It is neglect wearing discipline's clothes.

A moveName the hour you stop, out loud, to your pod — tonight, not someday.
A moveTrack one body signal for a week — sleep, skipped meals, pain — and show your team the numbers.
A moveAgree as a pod: no one gets praised for the longest hours in standup. Praise the clean handoff instead.
A movePick one task this week to hand off before you're forced to.
A moveAsk your pod directly: who covers for whom the moment one of us stops?
