Why doesn't my vision stick with everyone I lead?

You have said the vision clearly. You know this, because you have said it more than once, in more than one way. And still it slides off some of your people like rain off stone. Here is the truth you may be avoiding: clarity in your own head is not the same as connection in their heart. You have been polishing the message. The message was never the problem. The problem is that you never asked what they wanted before you told them what you want. This is fixable, and it is fixable by you, alone, starting with one conversation. Not a better slide. Not a better speech. A question you have not yet asked.

The person already understands vision-setting; what they lack is the specific habit of listening before speaking, which is built through practice, not instruction.

What’s really going on

You are not failing at speech. You are speaking only your own picture, not theirs. People move toward what they already want for themselves, not toward your words alone. Find what each person wants. Then show them exactly where your path meets it. That is the whole task.

🔒 What you’ll build togetherUnlock by starting
A moveBefore you speak your vision again, ask one key person: 'What do you want for yourself this year?' Write down the exact words they use.
A moveStop rehearsing your speech tonight. Rehearse your questions instead.
A moveFind the single line in your vision that touches what that person already wants. Open with that line, not with yours.
A moveAfter you speak, ask someone to repeat back what it means for them, in their own words. If they cannot, you have not landed yet.
A moveName one person who stayed blank last time you spoke. Go to them alone this week, before the next meeting, and ask what matters to them.

What changes unlock by starting

  • You will know within one conversation whether your vision has landed, not guess weeks later from results.
  • You will speak less and ask more, and people will remember more of what you say.
  • You will stop blaming your audience for not 'getting it.'
  • You will build a working list of what your key people actually want, and use it again and again.
One object, two jobs: a public answer to a real problem, and — the moment you start the chat — Aurelius’s live plan for your version of it.
