Why doesn't my vision move people the way it moves me?
You have said the vision clearly. You know this because you can repeat it word for word. But some people nod and then do nothing. That is not a speaking problem. That is a listening problem — yours. A vision only moves a person when it touches something they already care about. You cannot install that from outside. You can only find it, name it, and connect your path to it. If you skip this, you are not leading people. You are performing in front of them. This is harder with a team than with one person, because each one needs a different connection. That is the real work. Not a better slide. Not a better speech. One conversation at a time, with people you may have stopped truly looking at.
Your vision lives in your head. It must live in theirs — not as your words, but as their own reason. Stop polishing the message. Go find out what each person already wants for themselves, then show them where your path and their want meet. That is the whole task.
What changes unlock by starting
- You know, specifically, what each team member wants — not a guess, their own words
- You can state, for each person, where the vision meets their want, in one sentence
- Fewer people nod and disappear; more act without being pushed
- You stop mistaking a clear message for a shared one
