Why won't my client show up and actually push?
You say you know the exercises. That was never the hard part. The hard part is a person in front of you who refuses to work. You feel that refusal as your own failure. Look closer. You are trying to carry their will on your own back. You cannot lift what isn't yours. Their showing up, their pushing, their honesty about effort — these belong to them, not you. Confusing the two wears you down. Your task is smaller than you think, and harder. Build the conditions where effort is easy to choose. Say plainly what you expect, before they walk in. Stop treating their refusal as proof that you have failed.
Their will is not yours to command. You cannot force another person to want what they don't yet want. What you control is the plan you set, the terms you agree on before they arrive, and whether you keep coaching someone who won't choose effort. Stop mistaking their laziness for your failure.
What changes unlock by starting
- You stop absorbing their lack of effort as personal failure.
- You have a repeatable structure for every session that doesn't depend on their mood.
- You have plain words ready for the direct conversation about effort, instead of avoiding it.
- Your own effort stays steady, regardless of theirs.
