Islamic ethics of technology

Islamic ethics evaluates technology through the lens of maslaha — public benefit — and asks whether a given tool advances human flourishing or undermines it. The tradition has never been against science or invention; it produced much of the foundational mathematics and optics on which later technology rests. The ethical question is not whether to use technology but whether the use serves the good life and the common good.
