I look fine to everyone. Inside, I'm running on empty.
You perform well. Everyone believes it. Inside, you are past your limit, and you fill the gap with more effort, not less. This is not balance. This is debt you keep rolling over, and calling discipline. The real trouble is not the tiredness. It is that you have made the performance into who you are. If you stopped, even for a day, it would feel like you stopped existing. That fear is running the whole operation, not your reasons. If this exhaustion has gone on a long time, or feels like more than tiredness, say so to a doctor or counselor. That is not quitting. That is using your eyes.
You are not failing. You are spending yourself to guard an image, and calling it strength. The image is not you. Today, choose one small task and do it imperfectly, on purpose. Notice the world does not end. That is the whole exercise — proof, not theory.
What changes unlock by starting
- You test, in a small way, whether your worth survives an imperfect result — and find that it does.
- You say one honest sentence to another person about what you need, instead of managing their view of you.
- You catch yourself, in real time, choosing performance over rest — and get one more chance to choose differently.
- You stop mistaking the mask for the face underneath it.
