Notifications have shredded your attention

Your day is a hail of pings, buzzes, and badges, each one pulling your mind away just as it begins to settle. You cannot hold a thought or finish a task without being interrupted, and your attention has been broken into fragments so small you can barely feel whole.

What’s really going on

Attention is like still water, able to reflect clearly only when undisturbed — and each notification is a stone dropped in, so a mind struck all day by a hundred stones never settles. The scatter you feel is not a flaw in you but the natural result of a surface never allowed to grow still. Three things. See that each interruption is a small cut to a whole mind, so what breaks the stillness can be removed. Silence the pulls at their source rather than resisting each one, for most notifications serve the sender, not you, and were never yours — turn nearly all of them off and find how much of the scatter was only their tapping. Then let attention rest on one thing at a time and grow whole, returning it gently when it drifts, allowing focus as water clears by being left alone. Interruption fractured the mind; single, unhurried attention lets it heal. What keeps pulling at you most?
