You feel you have to be reachable always, and it's crushing you
You feel you must answer everything instantly — the messages, the emails, the calls — always on, always available, never allowed to be out of reach. The pressure to respond at once, at all hours, from everyone, is relentless, and it is quietly crushing you and leaving you no moment that is truly your own.
This pressure is real, and much of its power lies in a place you can actually reach. The expectation is largely one you accepted, not one imposed — few truly require your instant reply as often as you give it, and you have taught them to expect it by always providing it, so a good part of the always-reachable cage is held shut from the inside, and what you accepted you can renegotiate. Instant is not the same as soon, or as necessary — almost nothing requires an instant answer, and you can reply thoughtfully in your own rhythm rather than the sender's, for the obligation to instant response is a habit of the medium, not a demand of the matter. And teach others your rhythm by living it — answer in good time consistently, let the non-urgent wait, and over time others adjust to the pace you keep. You are teaching the world how to reach you. Who or what makes you feel you can never be out of reach?
