Why do our customer handoffs keep dropping people?
You call this a handoff problem. It isn't. A handoff is paperwork — a form, a note, a ticket moved to a new queue. What you are actually doing is asking a customer to trust a stranger, on your word alone, the moment you stop being useful to them. Notice what happens when it fails. The customer doesn't say 'your process broke.' They say 'nobody remembers me.' That's not a system complaint. That's a person complaint. Your pod built something real with them, then dropped it at the door and called it done. This is fixable, but not with a better template. It's fixed by what your pod does in the five minutes before the customer meets someone new, and the five minutes after. That time belongs to you. Use it.
The handoff fails because you pass along a file, not a relationship. The customer trusted you; a stranger, however capable, is not you. Fix this by building the bridge yourself, before you let go — introduce the new person while you are still present. That part is within your power. Do it.
What changes unlock by starting
- Customers stop having to repeat their story to the new team.
- Fewer accounts go cold in the first 30 days after a handoff.
- Your pod can name, for any customer, exactly who is responsible for them right now.
- Trust carries across the handoff instead of resetting to zero.
