Why is there nothing left for my own kids after work?

You spend your best hours on other people's children. By the time you get home, you are empty. Your own kids get the tired, thin version of you. Then guilt shows up, heavy and uninvited. The guilt feels like proof that you care. It is not helping anyone. It just sits there while you do nothing different. Guilt without a changed action is weight you carry for free. You cannot add hours to the day. You can decide, before you arrive home, what belongs to work and what belongs to your family. That decision is yours to make. Make it on purpose, every day, instead of letting the day make it for you.

What’s really going on

You are not broken. You give all day because that is the job you chose. What runs out is not love — it is attention you spent without limit. Choose, before you walk through your own door, what you will give there. Stop hoping leftovers will be enough.

🔒 What you’ll build togetherUnlock by starting
A moveSet one clear marker that ends your work-self before you reach your own door — a walk, a song, changing your shirt.
A movePick one small, specific thing to give your own child today — ten minutes, one question, one task done side by side. Not 'quality time' in the abstract.
A moveSay the guilt out loud once, then put it down. Ask yourself: what will I do differently tomorrow? If the answer is nothing, the guilt is doing no work.
A moveTell your own kids plainly what you do all day and why it matters — including to them.
A moveEach night, write down the one real thing you gave at home. Build evidence against the lie that you gave nothing.

What changes unlock by starting

  • You stop carrying guilt that changes nothing and start carrying one action instead.
  • Your evenings get a clear marker that separates 'teacher' from 'parent.'
  • Your own children get something small but real from you, daily, instead of nothing.
  • You can say, at the end of each day, exactly what you gave at home.
One object, two jobs: a public answer to a real problem, and — the moment you start the chat — Aurelius’s live plan for your version of it.
