Why won't my demand gen engine run without me?

You run demand gen. Every quarter you fill the pipe again, mostly by your own effort. That is not an engine. That is you, pushing a cart uphill, every single time. An engine is a thing that keeps turning after you stop pushing it. You do not have one yet — not because you lack ideas, but because you keep changing the ideas before they prove themselves. You chase the next channel before the last one finishes its test. The fix is not cleverness. It is narrowing what you do, writing it down, and repeating it past the point of boredom. Choose one thing. Run it long enough to know if it works. Then, and only then, hand it off.

The tactics of demand gen are not the real gap — the discipline to narrow, document, and sustain one process is, so this leans heavily on coaching.

What’s really going on

You keep pushing the same levers and the pipe refills only while you push. That is not an engine. An engine runs on parts that repeat without your hand on them. Pick one channel, one offer, one follow-up sequence. Make it boring and repeatable before you add anything new. Stop chasing more.

🔒 What you’ll build togetherUnlock by starting
A movePick the one channel you already have proof works. Kill two others this week.
A moveWrite the exact path a lead walks, first touch to booked meeting. If you can't list it in ten steps, it isn't a process yet.
A moveSet a daily number for what you control — calls made, posts sent, emails written. Hit it for 30 days before you judge the results.
A moveHand one piece of the sequence to someone else. If it only runs through you, it isn't an engine.
A moveAt the end of the month, write down what repeated without you touching it. Build only on that.

What changes unlock by starting

  • A written, repeatable sequence instead of a list of tactics in your head
  • One proven channel running on its own for 30 straight days
  • Clear daily inputs you control, separate from results you don't
  • Less of your own hustle required to keep the pipe full
