You want to be fully yourself but don't know where to begin
You want to stop shrinking, hiding, and conforming, and finally be fully who you are — but after so long spent making yourself smaller and more acceptable, you do not even know where to begin. The whole project feels vague and daunting, and you are unsure how to become the full, authentic self you have spent so long obscuring.
That you want to be fully yourself, after so long spent obscuring it, is the beginning of everything, and I will show you where to start. Begin by learning who you actually are — years of shrinking may have left you unsure who the full self even is, so start with the quiet work of discovering what you truly think, want, and value when you consult only yourself, and which beliefs are genuinely yours; you cannot be fully yourself until you have found what that self contains. Reveal yourself gradually, where it is safe — you need not fling your full self at the world at once, so start with low-risk expressions among the people most likely to accept them, letting each success widen the ground outward. And being fully yourself is a practice, not a destination — an ongoing choosing, not a state you arrive at once, which frees you to simply begin today, imperfectly, and continue always. Let us start with the first question: who are you, beneath all the shrinking?
What changes unlock by starting
- You begin by learning who you actually are
- You reveal yourself gradually, where it's safe
- You let each small revelation embolden the next
- You take up being yourself as a lifelong practice
