The beliefs you were raised in no longer hold for you — they have fallen away, or been outgrown, or proven unable to bear the weight of your adult life — and you feel abandoned by them, adrift, perhaps guilty toward those who gave them to you. You do not know who you are without the faith you were raised in, or how to move forward from it.
To lose the beliefs you were raised in is a particular kind of disorientation, tangled with love and guilt, and I want to help you find your way through it. You can outgrow beliefs without betraying who gave them — the people who raised you in their faith gave what they had, out of love, and honoring that love does not require keeping beliefs that no longer fit who you have become, for a child outgrows the clothes a parent lovingly provided without insulting the parent. The beliefs may have been outgrown, not proven false — a child's understanding of the sacred naturally becomes too small for an adult mind, so you may not have been deceived but have grown, and a more mature form of what you left may still await you. And you now get to choose what you believe, freely — the beliefs were given before you could weigh them, and now you can seek and question and arrive at what you actually find true, building a faith that is genuinely your own, which can be deeper than anything merely handed to you. What beliefs fell away, and what do you feel toward those who gave them?
