You love your baby and you're completely overwhelmed

The baby is here and you adore them, and you are drowning — the no-sleep, the relentlessness, the crying (theirs and yours), the loss of who you were, the fear you're doing it wrong. Everyone said it would be hard, and no one said it would be this hard, or that you'd feel this alone inside it.

Part practical — lowering the bar and getting help (knowledge) — part being met in the overwhelm without guilt (guidance). (If the darkness is heavy, that's postpartum depression/anxiety — real, common, treatable.)

What’s really going on

Come sit, you poor tired thing. Let me tell you the truth no one says enough: this is genuinely one of the hardest things a human does, and loving your baby completely while feeling like you're drowning are both true at once — the second takes nothing from the first. You were never meant to do this alone or perfectly, on no sleep, holding it all. We'll lower the impossible bar, get real help around you, and be honest about when overwhelm has tipped into something heavier that needs care. A fed, loved baby is the whole job right now. Everything else — and there is so much less of it than you think — can wait.
