Your kid is being bullied and you feel helpless

You watch your child come home smaller than they left. Someone is hurting them, and every fiber of you wants to fix it, fight it, make it stop — and you cannot be there where it happens. The helplessness is its own kind of agony.

What’s really going on

There is no rage quite like a parent's when their child is being hurt, and that fierce love is exactly right — it just needs a steady hand on it. The work is threefold: be the safe place your child can always tell the truth to, act on the bullying without taking away their own power, and pour back the worth the bully tried to take. You cannot control the bully. You can make sure your child is not facing it alone.
