You feel your body doesn't belong to you
You feel your body is not quite your own — constantly commented on, judged, evaluated, sometimes touched or controlled, treated as public property that others may appraise and direct. The endless external gaze and verdict on your body has left you feeling that it belongs more to the world's judgment than to you, and you have lost the sense of it as your own.
The world presumed endless authority over my body and my choices, so I know this dispossession. Your body is yours, whatever the world presumes — it belongs to you and no one else, and however routinely others remark on it or judge it, they trespass on what is yours alone; their presumption reveals their disrespect, not any transfer of ownership, so hold firmly to your sovereignty over your own body. You may decline to accept others' verdicts on your body — the endless judgments are opinions from people with no authority over you, shaped by narrow shifting standards, so you need not internalize them or adjust yourself to satisfy them; let them be spoken, you are not obliged to receive them. And live in your body as your home, not as an exhibit — dwell in it from within, felt as the vessel of your life rather than a thing on display, and the external gaze loses its power. Move back in and live there. Whose gaze has made your body feel not your own?
