Your kids are on screens and you don't know how to lead well

Your children are always on their screens, and you want to guide them toward something healthier — but you feel like a hypocrite with your own phone in hand, and every attempt to limit them turns into a fight. You do not know how to lead them out of something you are caught in too.

What’s really going on

This is honest, and the honesty is the beginning of leading well. They learn from your hands more than your words — a child copies how the grown-ups actually live with these devices, so change what they see you do and much of the rest follows; you cannot lead them out of a place you still live in. Give them something better to turn toward — the outdoors, real play, your unhurried company — for a child rich in other good things needs the screen less, and it loses its grip through the fuller life beside it, not only the rule against it. And set the shape of the home calmly, as its natural way — screens rest at the table, the day has a stopping time — stated plainly and held steadily, since the calm consistent current teaches more than the storm of a crackdown. Be the quiet steady way, not the battle. Where do you feel most caught in it yourself?
