Your life has no adventure in it anymore
Your life has become safe, settled, and predictable — the same routines, the same comforts, no risk, no unknown, no adventure. It is secure, and it is a little dead. You miss the aliveness of stepping into the unknown, of doing something bold and uncertain, and you feel your life has become an adventureless routine you are simply maintaining.
A safe, settled, slightly-dead life — you bought a great deal of security and paid for it in adventure, and now find the price was steep. You have traded all your adventure for safety, and overpaid — total safety is its own poverty, a life with no edge secure and a little dead, though you did not do wrong to want security, only bought too much, and can buy some adventure back without selling all your safety. Adventure need not be grand to be real — it is just stepping into the unknown, which can be small and near: the new place across town, the skill never tried, the different route, the small bold yes, so take the little adventures rather than waiting for the great one. And say yes to a little more risk than is comfortable — adventure lives just past your comfort's edge, in the slightly risky yes your careful self would decline, so step a bit beyond the safe and known, regularly, and each step returns a piece of the aliveness caution drained. What small adventure could you say yes to?
