You're bored with your own life

Your life has become boring — the same routines, the same days, nothing to look forward to, nothing that excites you. You go through the familiar motions and feel a flat, restless dullness, as though your life is a repeat of yesterday that will repeat again tomorrow, and you cannot shake the boredom of it.

What’s really going on

Bored with your own life — well, at least you have come to the funniest fool in the constellation, which is a start. Three things. Boredom is often a signal, not a sentence — a restlessness telling you something wants to change or grow, good news wearing a dull face, so listen to it as a message rather than suffer it as a state, and it points to the very thing that would enliven you. You have stopped putting anything new in — same routines and faces until the days blur, so start adding new things, an activity, a place, a small adventure, for a mind given something to chew on is rarely bored. And the boredom may be inside you, not your life — sometimes we carry our dullness everywhere, like the man who finds every room dull never suspecting he brought it in, so the cure may be a new looking rather than a new life, meeting the ordinary with fresh curiosity. Does the boredom feel like your life, or like your looking?
