You're consumed by worry about your health
Every twinge is a tumor, every symptom a catastrophe. You check your body, search your fears, seek reassurance — and the relief never lasts before the next worry seizes you. The fear that something is terribly wrong with your health has taken over your mind and your days.
Health anxiety is a particular torment, and it runs on a mechanism we can interrupt. Three things. First, the checking feeds the fear it means to calm — each scan and search and reassurance brings a moment's relief followed by more fear, training the mind that the danger is real enough to keep monitoring. Second, the worry seeks a certainty no one can ever have, so the way out is to let the uncertainty be there, unresolved and survivable, rather than chasing it endlessly. Third, set sane limits — reasonable care, an honest doctor, and then a firm boundary on the worry beyond that — and pour back into living the attention the fear has stolen. Certainty was never available; peace comes from no longer requiring it. What does the worry drive you to check?
